Barcelona-apartments for rent by dayBarcelona's history dates back from Neolithic period (2000 to 1500 B.C.), but it is not up to VII-VI centuries B.C when first settlers appear, called "Layetanos”. In the century to 202 a.C. 218 will released the second Punic War by “Cartagena”, was led by Anibal Barca (the firstname "Barca" of Anibal the Carthaginian is where the name came from Barcelona), but the domination of the Romans was booming and the Carthaginians were defeated by them and when they took the city was named “Colonia Julia Augusta Paterna Barcino Faventia”.

Until the V century was inhabited by the Romans it was growing and getting the whole culture of the Romans to fortify the city and expanding population. The "Visigoths" included living in this city so unique and that's when it starts to take a Spanish brand.

Almost 900 years Barcelona was attacked by Muslims and almost entirely destroyed, but "Borrell II" start giving way to the reconstruction period “Condal”( hence the name of “ciudad Condal”). Throughout the next transition Barcelona was a great influence throughout the continent and Catalonia became a great power in the Mediterranean in the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries with a monarchy led by the Crown of Aragon (Corona de Aragon) highlighting the area of trade..

In the following centuries there were various wars. Through the “Guerra de succession” (War of Spanish Succession) in (1706 to 1714) was a major change in Catalonia lost all institutions but obtained an increase in the economy through integration with the rest of the country that formed in Spain and on all trade with America.

When industrialization began in the nineteenth century, Barcelona became more important in the political, economic and cultural at front of the “Renaixença” (Renaissance). One of its biggest industries was  the monopoly of the textile trade between Cuba and Spain, where Barcelona had an important role in the transfer of the textile materials of cotton. The problem that occurred at that time between the Cubans and the Spaniards was the "funnel theory" wide and close to Spain to Cuba, creating unrest and the movement for independence of Cuba, asking for financial support to the U.S. economic equality. After the differences between Spain and Cuba were allowed to develop and plan the urban and industrial center also hosted two World’s fairs in 1888 and 1929.

In the twentieth century, Barcelona's economic growth, the proliferation of new ideologies (mainly the working population) have increased considerably, creating the Metro and the Port, but when it exploded shortly after the Spanish Civil War halted the growth during that decade. With the republic, the city was a point of revolt, the struggle between the various parties at the time that no one can stop even the Spanish government. Barcelona was bombed and the advance of Franco's troops, Barcelona lost all hope of progress until the end of the Franco dictatorship in 1978, when General Franco Primo de Rivera died delegated monarchy with King “Juan Carlos I” which still governs our present country.
